Our Painting Process

Exterior Painting

To prepare the home for painting or staining we do a thorough pressure washing complete to completely clean all siding and trim, and, if necessary, a chemical treatment to remove mold and mildew.  If the home is to be painted, it will require caulking, to seal all gaps and areas where boards meet using only high quality caulk.  In some cases, preparation will include scraping, sanding, and priming to create the necessary substrate which is conducive to a high quality, and lasting paint job.

We then apply 2 coats of 100% acrylic paint by spray and backroll method. The trim is always painted with a brush and roller exclusively, which prevents over spray from drifting to areas which are not to be painted (i.e. roof, or rain gutters).  Care is taken to protect all surrounding areas from paint bi-products, including all windows, plants, sidewalks, etc.

Interior Painting

Interiors require very much the same preparation as exteriors, with extra focus and attention given to protecting the adjacent and surrounding areas from any drips and paint spatter. Most customers prefer to remove their personal items from the rooms to be painted, such as pictures, shelving, fragile items, nick-knacks, etc.

Larger furniture items can be moved into the center of the room, and large items can be left for our painters to move, or, if they prefer, we can move items, which we will estimate accordingly. We will remove all outlet covers, fill any holes in walls where pictures have been removed (if a client wishes to return a picture or item to the same spot, the nail can be left in place and we will not fill in the hole). If any drywall repair needs to be done to walls or ceilings, this would take place at this time. We then prime the walls and then two coats of 100% acrylic latex paint would be applied by brush and roller to all areas.
Staining does not require caulking in as many areas, roller but it still needs to be done around all the windows and doors. If the trim or siding is to be stained, it may require several applications of wood brighteners to return the wood to it’s natural color.

We also provide design service, and applications which can show clients before and after photos of their homes with sample colors of their choosing, to assist with “visualization”, prior to any paint being applied. We can assist in “ideas”, and directions, as well as completely handle the scope of choosing, and designing of a clients project. We do faux painting, glazing, etc, as well.
